The Department of Development Journalism (DDJ) of the UPLB College of Development Communication (CDC) was tapped by the Department of Agriculture (DA) to train two of its agencies.
Mr. Miguel Victor T. Durian, University Extension Associate II, served as the resource person on photojournalism and science journalism in the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards’ (BAFS) three, whole-day workshop on the finalization of its communications manual. The face-to-face training was held at the Subic Travelers Hotel in Zambales on April 19-21, 2022.
He discussed the kinds, parts, and settings of cameras, basics and genres of photography, and composition techniques.
On the other hand, Asst. Prof. Aletheia C. Araneta, Asst. Prof. Jyasmin M. Calub-Bautista, and Asst. Prof. Aileen F. Macalintal served as resource persons in DA Region II’s five, half-day Training on Data and Science Journalism. It was held on April 21, May 5, 12, 19, and 26 through blended learning mode.

They discussed techniques in writing science news and feature articles, fact-checking, and data visualization.
The CDC academic staff also represented the Los Baños Times, DDJ’s multimedia community news platform and laboratory arm. (Miguel Victor T. Durian)
